Stained Glass and Mixed Media
Dylan Spelman Hall

Endless Stained Glass is the brand name I’ve gone by for the last 4 years. I chose the name because there are an endless amount of ways to play with - not just glass, but art. Although I’ve been working in the stained glass field over the last 5 and a half years my inspiration comes from what surrounds me. At times that’s been glass, metal, found objects including trash and antiques, beautiful interiors. My father has always been a collector of eclectic items. Growing up my home was always full of funky furniture and knickknacks. I think this has always translated into my art practice. Mixing flat antique glass with shiny new reflective bevels and copper wire or wooden scraps with flaking paint “sewn” together with rusty wire, modern mirrors with a funky flare. Learning how to paint on glass has tied in my love for tattoos and traditional patterns.

Stained glass restoration has been my primary focus since moving back to Philly in 2020. Being able to work on and repair a window that hasn’t been touched in 100 years is a special moment-a glimpse into the past. Saving old found items or shards of glass and reusing them with new material has been a common pattern in my work since my late teens.
